San Mateo, CA – As part of our ongoing commitment to community welfare and support, the San Mateo County Event Center is enthusiastic to announce a new partnership with the San Mateo County Human Services Agency to introduce an Inclement Weather Program.
With the aim of providing refuge and assistance during harsh weather conditions, the Inclement Weather Program will offer a safe space for vulnerable populations in our community. This initiative aligns with both organizations’ missions to enhance the well-being and resilience of residents in San Mateo County.
The program will be housed at the San Mateo County Event Center, leveraging its facilities to provide temporary shelter, meals, and essential services to individuals experiencing home insecurity or displacement due to severe weather events.
“This collaboration between the San Mateo County Event Center and the San Mateo County Human Services Agency supports our shared dedication to serving those in need within our community,” said Dana Stoehr, CEO of the San Mateo County Event Center. “We recognize the importance of providing a safe haven during inclement weather, and we are proud to open our doors to offer assistance and aid.”
The San Mateo County Human Services Agency will oversee the operational aspects of the program, ensuring that individuals utilizing the shelter receive appropriate care and access to resources. Trained staff and volunteers will be on-site to provide assistance, guidance, and referrals to additional services as needed.
The Inclement Weather Program will be activated based on weather forecasts and will operate during specified periods of extreme cold, rain, or other severe weather events.
