San Mateo County Fair

The San Mateo County Exposition and Fair Association announce the cancellation of the June 13-21, 2020 San Mateo County Fair

San Mateo, Calif – It is with a heavy heart we announce the 2020 San Mateo County Fair will not be open this year. The County of San Mateo has activated the Event Center-Fairgrounds to serve as a vital resource in its response to the COVID-19 Pandemic Emergency. Under this activation, the County of San Mateo has directed use of the San Mateo County Event Center and Fairgrounds for the next 90 days at a minimum. Refunds will be processed for all Exhibitor entry fees and online Fair ticket purchasers.

In the 86-year history of the San Mateo County Fair, this period is one of the most challenging any of us has encountered. COVID-19 has forever changed our world. Our Board of Directors and staff are providing all available resources that we can to assist the County in their efforts to address the Pandemic.

The San Mateo County Event Center and Fairgrounds has weathered crises over the years and will endure this one to support our San Mateo County residents. The San Mateo County Fair has opened every year since 1934, except for one year during World War II. This year, June 2020, is the second historic closure in 86 years.

“Our core mission is always to serve our community first. As a designated Office of Emergency Services resource, we are fulfilling that mission. Our commitment to you is to continue to lead with our hearts and minds. We will get through this and emerge stronger and better together.” said CEO Dana Stoehr. “Our Event Center and Fairgrounds will open for the gathering public in the future, and we look forward to welcoming you back as soon as the crisis is behind us.”

“We look forward to serving our clients, partners, vendors, and Fair family through this crisis. We will come together again to celebrate our youth, crafters, makers, exhibitors, and business partners when our communities are healthy and safe.” said Justin Aquino, Fair Operations Manager.
