Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom Visits Massive Dental Clinic at the San Mateo County Event Center

Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom will be making a stop in San Mateo Saturday, April 22, between 9:25 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to visit a massive dental clinic at the Event Center.

The California Dental Association is putting on the two-day event both Saturday, April 22, and Sunday, April 23, to provide free dental care to a goal of approximately 2,000 people at the San Mateo Event Center’s Fiesta Hall in San Mateo. Doors open at 5:30 a.m.

The event will offer oral health care and education at no charge, and community volunteers are donating their time and skills. CDA cares, with the help of 16,857 volunteers, has provided $16.4 million in care to more than 20,000 people since 2012.

The recurring event was spurred by recession-era cuts to California’s Medi-Cal dental program, which remains chronically underfunded and leaves many — including the working poor — without access to dental care.
