The San Mateo County Event Center and Fair proudly celebrates Chief Executive Officer Dana Stoehr on her recognition as Woman of the Year by California State
Assemblymember Diane Papan.
On behalf of the San Mateo County Event Center staff and Board of Directors, Deputy CEO Jim Mercurio expressed pride in Stoehr’s achievement.
“Dana’s leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to our community have made a lasting impact not only on our organization but across San Mateo County,” said Mercurio. “This recognition is a reflection of her decades of service, innovation, and dedication to public service.”
With more than 35 years of experience in the fair and event industry, Stoehr has built a career defined by leadership and community engagement. As CEO, she has transformed the Event Center into a dynamic hub for connection, commerce, and civic life. Notably, she became the first woman CEO 93-year history.
Stoehr’s leadership was especially critical during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she repositioned the Event Center as a vital emergency response site. Under her direction, the facility served as a regional hub for testing, vaccinations, and a temporary overflow hospital, as well as hosting and distributing vital supplies to childcare centers throughout the County.
Dana is a recognized business leader who, with her team, attracts business to the Event Center and community as a self-supporting non-profit. Stoehr has also championed community initiatives addressing food insecurity, community wellness, and public service. Through partnerships with organizations such as Second Harvest of Silicon Valley and Samaritan House, the Event Center has supported thousands of families in need. Stoehr’s influence extends beyond San Mateo County. She co-founded the California Emergency Response and Resiliency Venues and Fairgrounds (CERRVF), promoting the critical role fairgrounds play during disasters. She also serves on the San Mateo Police Activities League Board, supporting youth programs and community engagement.
“Dana embodies what it means to lead with purpose,” Event Center Board President Rosanne Foust added. “Her ability to turn challenges into opportunities for business and service has strengthened our community in meaningful and lasting ways.”
The San Mateo County Event Center and Fair remains committed to continuing this legacy under Stoehr’s leadership—serving as both a premier event destination and a cornerstone of community support.
